Conduct a Thorough Investigation and Take Appropriate Action Against Instigators!
Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) condemns the police’s action in Penang whom is continuously intimidating human rights activists and opposition members who were involved with the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 (Save Malaysia Stop Lynas protest) in Penang.
We were informed that the police are calling all those involved with the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 which was held on 26 February at the Esplanade in Penang. So far the police have taken statements from eight individuals, including Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and state Exco Chow Kon Yeow. According to one source, the police in their investigations were asking about the organisers’ of the event and also threatened that they can make arrests as the gathering was illegal.
