Suaram launches online book store

Suaram is pleased to announce that its publications are now available for purchase online via:

As a human rights NGO, Suaram has contributed to the research and publication on various public policies and issues – such as arms spending, energy policies, May 13 riots, violence in Kampung Medan, the ISA and Operation Lalang, development projects and their impacts on community, and police reform.

Two of Suaram’s best-selling publications are:

1. The Annual Human Rights Report on Malaysia – Published annually without fail since 1989, the report documents the violations and progress of human rights in Malaysia during the year in review. The report is both detailed and non-partisan and keenly awaited every year by local as well as foreign human rights watchers.

2. May 13 – Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969 – written by Dr Kua Kia Soong using documents declassified at the London Public Records Office, this publication deliberates that the May 13 riots were by no means a spontaneous outburst of ethnic violence but rather an orchestrated coup d’etat by the ascendant state capitalist class against the Tunku-led aristocracy.

In launching the online book store, Suaram believes that its human rights publications will reach out to a wider audience.

Members of public are encouraged to support Suaram by purchasing its publications. Sales proceeds from the publications will be used to fund Suaram’s non-profit work on human rights.

Suaram also welcomes financial donation in support of its work.
