SUARAM is once again proud to announce the return of our annual Human Rights Award!
Human rights in Malaysia has always been controversial and oppression by the state government ensues every so often. Yet, civil societies have never ceased to defend human rights and stand against establishment.
Initiated in 1999 on the 10th anniversary celebration of SUARAM, this annual award seeks to give recognition to local communities and collectives in their outstanding and inspiring endeavours to protect and promote human rights activism in Malaysia.
This year, 16 years after the inaugural award was presented in 1999, SUARAM is once again calling for nominations for this award.
