OPEN POSITION: Law Reform Project Coordinator

Suara Rakyat Malaysia (SUARAM) currently has an open position for a LAW REFORM PROJECT COORDINATOR, please find the full job description and application process below.

The Law Reform Project Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and monitoring SUARAM’s advocacy on law reform and coordinate SUARAM’s engagement with the broader civil societies, especially on areas relating to law reform and the overall reform agenda.

Job Description
A) To design and plan SUARAM engagement and outreach programmes on law and policy reform

B) To coordinate with other project coordinators to advance law and policy reform initiatives;

C) To monitor and develop database on law and policy reform for internal records and publications;

D) To prepare and draft law reform papers or policy papers or briefing notes as and when necessary;

E) To represent SUARAM in national and regional meetings relevant to law and policy reform;

F) To assist and represent SUARAM’s engagement with broader civil societies in Malaysia on law reform and policy reform

• 3 years’ experience in human rights advocacy, law and policy reform, law and policy development, governance, political science, and/or social science relevant to SUARAM’s primary area of advocacy;

• Able to work independently and manage project in a timely and organized manner;• Experience in event management and facilitating meeting;

• Good research skills (any post-graduate research experience or background a bonus);

• Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English with any other spoken and written language being a bonus;
